Braving the challenges of outdoor field conditions, our engineers successfully completed Large-scale Ground Grid testing and SF6 GIS equipment preventive maintenance, adding a robust "Safety Lock" to the wind farm's operational stability.
Ground Grid Testing: Ensuring a Seamless Path for Lightning Dissipation
The earthing grid of a wind farm substation is the invisible shield protecting millions of dollars in assets. It is responsible for safely dissipating lightning strikes and fault currents into the earth. Any failure in the grid's continuity can lead to catastrophic equipment damage or personnel injury.
During this service mission, Huayi technicians conducted rigorous grounding impedance and continuity tests in strict accordance with national standards. By verifying the reliable connection between earthing leads and the main grid, we ensured that the "highway" for fault current remains unobstructed, preventing potential surge-related incidents.
SF6 GIS: In-depth Forensics for Gas-Insulated Equipment
The second core objective was the preventive testing of the onsite SF6 Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS). Given the compact and sealed nature of GIS, identifying latent defects requires high-precision diagnostics. The Huayi team executed a specialized "Triple-Play" inspection:
Trace Moisture (Dew Point) Detection: Eliminating the "invisible killer" of SF6 insulation-excessive moisture-which can cause internal surface tracking.
Gas Component Analysis: Identifying abnormal decomposition products to predict early-stage faults such as Partial Discharge (PD).
Main Circuit Resistance Measurement: Checking the "temperature" of the conductive path to identify loose connections or contact degradation before they lead to thermal runaway.
