Transformer Oil Test

  • Di-electric Test or Break Down Voltage Test
  • Viscosity Test
  • Acidity Test

Break Down Voltage Test

International standard

  • 2.5 mm gap between two electrodes, Applied voltage 25 KV for 1 min.
  • 2.5 mm-25 KV-1 min: No Spark at oil, Oil is ok, Oil can be used at any voltage level.
  • Energy Pac follows this standard.
  • 4.0 mm gap between two electrodes, Applied voltage 45 KV for 1 min.

Acidity test

Acidity Level:

  • 0.5 mg KOH/gm (Oil is ok.)
  • 0.5 to 1.0 mg KOH/gm (Under observation)
  • 1.0 mg KOH/mg (Discard Oil)

Viscosity Test

  • Viscosity of the oil increases as the oxidation reaction increases.
  • Oxidation increases as the dissolved gas of the oil increases.
  • By Dissolved Gas Analysis, the dissolved gas in the oil can be identified.
  • As the viscosity increases the oil turns bulky and it moves slowly and its insulation capabilities gradually deteriorates.
  • Viscosity should be as low as possible.

Insulation Resistance Test

  • Japanese Standard: (Rated Voltage*2+1) KV dc is applied.
