Transformer Oil Test
- Di-electric Test or Break Down Voltage Test
- Viscosity Test
- Acidity Test
Break Down Voltage Test
International standard
- 2.5 mm gap between two electrodes, Applied voltage 25 KV for 1 min.
- 2.5 mm-25 KV-1 min: No Spark at oil, Oil is ok, Oil can be used at any voltage level.
- Energy Pac follows this standard.
- 4.0 mm gap between two electrodes, Applied voltage 45 KV for 1 min.
Acidity test
Acidity Level:
- 0.5 mg KOH/gm (Oil is ok.)
- 0.5 to 1.0 mg KOH/gm (Under observation)
- 1.0 mg KOH/mg (Discard Oil)
Viscosity Test
- Viscosity of the oil increases as the oxidation reaction increases.
- Oxidation increases as the dissolved gas of the oil increases.
- By Dissolved Gas Analysis, the dissolved gas in the oil can be identified.
- As the viscosity increases the oil turns bulky and it moves slowly and its insulation capabilities gradually deteriorates.
- Viscosity should be as low as possible.
Insulation Resistance Test
- Japanese Standard: (Rated Voltage*2+1) KV dc is applied.
