Operation procedure of cable fault tester

The operation procedure of the buried cable fault tester can be divided into the following three parts

Judgment of cable fault type: Cable faults are mainly divided into main insulation faults and ultrahigh voltage outer sheath faults,The main insulation faults mainly include low resistance ground fault, open circuit fault, leakage high resistance fault and flash-over high resistance fault. First of all, you can determine the fault nature by grounding insulation meter or multimeter, and by doing tests, and then use the cable fault rangefinder to measure the distance. If it is a low resistance ground or open circuit fault, the distance is measured directly by the low voltage pulse method of the cable fault finder. If it is a flash-over high resistance fault, the direct flash-over method will be used to test the fault distance. If the fault is a leakage high resistance, the high voltage impulse discharge method is generally used to measure the distance.

searching path: In the search for the path, to add an AC signal to the cable (path signal generator), using the principle of electromagnetic induction, and then use the receiver to receive this signal, along the path of the signal to go again, to determine the path of the cable.

Locating the fault: Based on the results of step 1 and Step 2, locate the fault. This step is usually done using a cable fault range finder.

It should be noted that before operation, understand the cause of the fault and the basic situation of the cable.Such as whether the cable is new, whether it runs for a long time, the length of the cable, whether there is a joint in the middle, whether there has been a failure before. In addition, it is necessary to select the appropriate test method according to the different fault types, such as low resistance, short circuit, open break fault, as well as high resistance leakage and high resistance flash-over fault.
