In the world of high-voltage (HV) commissioning, bringing critical EHV transmission assets online is a mission that demands surgical precision.
1. Electrical Diagnostics: The Transformer's "Deep Physical"
Before the first spark, the unit underwent an exhaustive suite of electrical diagnostic tests to ensure every internal parameter met international standards.
Turns Ratio (TTR) & Vector Group: Verified the precise winding ratio and phase relationship to prevent circulating currents.
Magnetic Balance & Excitation:** Performed 10 kV Excitation Current tests to confirm core integrity and detect any early-stage magnetic circuit anomalies.
Insulation Diagnostics: Evaluated the "molecular" health of the asset using Insulation Resistance (IR), Polarization Index (PI), and Capacitance & Tan Delta measurements for both bushings and windings.
Winding Resistance: Precision DC measurement to identify any loose internal connections or brazing defects.
2. Unit Protection Stability: Ensuring the Shield is Solid
A transformer is only as safe as its protection scheme. To guarantee "in-zone" and "out-of-zone" stability, our team conducted rigorous **primary and secondary injection trials.
Restricted Earth Fault (REF): Specialized Turret CT testing and injection were used to calibrate REF stability, ensuring zero nuisance tripping during external faults.
Overall Differential Protection: Confirmed the precise balancing of currents across the 220kV and 22kV sides, providing a solid wall of defense against internal faults.
3. Control & Auxiliary Integration: The Nervous System
Beyond the core, the auxiliary systems must function in perfect harmony.
FCC Panel Wiring: Executed meticulous modification and verification of the Fan/Control/Communication (FCC) panels.
Cooling System:** Validated all cooling controls to ensure thermal management triggers correctly during peak loads.
4. Mechanical Safeties: The Fail-Safe Rehearsal
We performed exhaustive trip scheme trials across all thermal and mechanical sensors:
Thermal: WTI/OTI (Winding and Oil Temperature Indicators) alarm and trip interlocks.
Gas & Pressure:** Buchholz relay (MBT/MBA), OLTC Surge Relay (OSR), and Pressure Relief Devices (PRD/PRV).
Oil Levels: Verification of the Magnetic Oil Gauge (MOG).
Engineering for the Future
At [Wuhan Huayi / sinohipot], we provide the diagnostic hardware used by world-class EPCs to conduct these tests. From Tan Delta Testers to CT Analyzers, we empower engineers to detect the invisible and protect the grid.
