400KV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) test equipment plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of high-voltage electrical grids. GIS technology has revolutionized how power is transmitted and distributed, offering numerous benefits compared to traditional air-insulated switchgear. To ensure the proper functioning of GIS equipment, thorough testing is essential. There are different test equipment for GIS. Let's study below main equipment.

1. Partial discharge detector
Function: Monitor partial discharge (PD) in GIS and identify insulation defects (e.g., particle contamination, suspension potential).
Type: High frequency current Transformer (HFCT), ultra High frequency (UHF) sensor, Acoustic detection (AE).
Supplement: The UHF method is suitable for positioning power supply, AE method is more sensitive to mechanical loosening.

2. High-voltage withstand test equipment
Power frequency/frequency conversion voltage tester: Verify the main insulation strength (such as 20- 300Hz variable frequency series resonant test system.
Lightning impulse/Operational impulse generator: Simulate overvoltage conditions and test insulation resistance.

3. SF6 Gas Analyzer
Detection parameters: gas purity, humidity (dew point below -60℃), decomposition products (SO2, H2S, etc.).
Equipment examples: laser spectrum analyzer, electrochemical sensor.

Gas leak detector
Infrared imager or ultrasonic leak detector: Locate small leaks to ensure tightness.

4. Circuit breaker analyzer

Circuit breaker mechanical characteristics test, Opening and closing time, speed, travel curve.

5. Contact resistance tester
Usage: Measure the contact resistance of the main circuit (microohm level), check the overheating caused by poor contact.
